The initial focus of the firm was in direct venture and growth equity investing, a business which dates to their founding in 1972.The firm's primary fund investment activity started in 1979, when it began committing to primary partnerships on behalf of its clients. Over time, the firm integrated secondary, co-investments and private credit investments into their fund of funds.While the majority of the firm's assets are managed in commingled funds, its experience with separate accounts dates back to 1984, when it started managing fund of funds mandates.
