The firm’s investments span the full spectrum of private equity: buyouts, venture capital, growth capital, mezzanine, and distressed. AlpInvest manages programs for a number of institutional investors globally.Founded in 1999, AlpInvest Partners initially invested exclusively on behalf of Dutch pension asset managers APG and PGGM. They founded the company and were shareholders until July 1st 2011 when the company was acquired by Carlyle Group (60%) and AlpInvest management (40%). In the new setting AlpInvest seeks to expand its third party client base and to continue its growth as an alternative asset manager.In June 2013, it was announced that Carlyle Group was to acquire the remaining the 40% of AlpInvest, taking full control of its funds of funds vehicle. The deal was expected to complete in July 2013.
