China Development Bank Capital (CDB Capital) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Development Bank (CDB) and acts as the investment unit of the bank. Established in 2009 with the approval of the government, CDB Capital has taken over several key parts of CDB’s operations, such as private equity investment and management, direct investments, fund management and financial advisory. CDB Capital will leverage on the resources of CDB in order to expand its investment operations and support long-term national development. Upon the fund of funds manager's establishment, CDB’s investment assets with the exception of equity holdings in financial companies were transferred to it. Assets taken over included CDB's private equity holdings and direct holdings in non-financial companies. CDB Capital and its subsidiaries, such as Hong Kong-based CDB International raise private equity funds which provide growth capital to unlisted companies. CDB Capital has a broad mandate and invests in a wide range of industries, such as manufacturing and technology sectors and across markets, including China, Asia and South America.
