Citi Private Equity (CPE) is a division of Citi Alternative Investments (CAI). CPE itself manages private equity fund commitments, non-control direct private equity investments and mezzanine investments on behalf of Citi's proprietary accounts, employees and institutional and individual clients. CPE's private equity professionals, based in New York and London, oversee more than 450 limited partnership investments in private equity and over 100 direct investments. CPE looks to invest with leading private equity managers globally and across various investment styles and sizes, which include leveraged buyouts, venture capital, mezzanine debt, distressed debt and direct equity co-investment.In 2010 Citigroup agreed to sell its private equity unit to Lexington Partners. StepStone Group provides management services for the unit. The sale would mark another step in Citigroup's efforts to unload its unwanted assets.
