Daiwa Corporate Investment (DCI), a subsidiary of Daiwa Securities Group, is a private equity firm that seeks both venture capital and buyout opportunities. DCI was founded as Nippon Investment & Finance Co in 1982 and merged with Daiwa Finance in 2000 to form NIF Ventures. Daiwa SMBC Capital was established as NIF Ventures and SMBC Capital merged their private equity operations to better utilize the resources of their parent companies on 1 October, 2005. The merger was extended with full support by Daiwa Securities Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group as part of a joint agreement. The joint venture was terminated and DCI adopted its current name on 1st July 2010. DCI is an active, hands-on investor and lends its management, technical, operational, recruiting, networking and financial expertise to grow the value and business of the investee companies. The private equity firm focuses on a wide range of industries globally, including IT, life sciences, consumer services, media, financial services, restaurants and distribution sectors.
