Duke Street is an independent private equity company which principally invests in established mid-market pan-European businesses. The firm was founded in 1988 as Hambro European Ventures, and subsequently changed its name to Duke Street after it was bought out from Hambros in 1998. Duke Street has invested in Western Europe for over 16 years, with a core focus on majority investments in UK and French companies. Although the firm considers most sectors they have a particular interest in business services, healthcare, financial services, and consumer products and services. In January 2012, Duke Street ceased fundraising for its seventh buyout fund, and switched to raising capital on a deal-by-deal basis. The firm's new fund structure will see it raise capital from investors for every other deal it does, receiving payments to cover the running of its operation as well as a performance incentive fee.
