Octagon Credit Investors is a New York based private debt firm. It was founded in 1994 as a separate business unit of Chemical Bank. In 1999, Octagon spun out from Chase Manhattan Bank. In 2008, CCMP Capital LLC purchased a majority ownership stake in Octagon.Through its Octagon Credit Opportunities investment platform, organized by Octagon Credit Investors and CCMP Capital Advisors, the firm specializes in CLOs and distressed debt strategies, focusing on businesses that are experiencing financial pressures related to a cyclical downturn or are facing operating or other business issues. It purchases leveraged loans and other debt obligations of financially troubled companies and then actively reorganises the business. Geographically, Octagon Credit Investors targets North America and Europe. Whilst its headquarters is in New York, it also maintains offices in Houston and London.
