Pequot Ventures is the venture arm of Pequot Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar U.S. registered investment adviser founded in 1998 to manage the Pequot Family of Funds, which began investing in 1986. Through Pequot Ventures, the firm invests in innovative technology companies throughout the States and is typically the first institutional investor in its portfolio companies. In Q1 2008, the decision was made to separate the business and principals of Pequot Ventures formed a new firm, FirstMark Capital. This was effective from June 2008.
