Shackleton Ventures is a direct secondaries venture capital firm that was formed in November 2006. The firm specializes in direct secondary venture capital investments, where it will buy a portfolio of existing investments, or an individual deal, from an investor that is seeking liquidity. Following purchase, Shackleton often provides new funding for portfolio companies alongside its secondary purchase if it will help the company to build value and develop towards a profitable exit for all concerned. The firm focuses primarily on venture investments in young technology companies and growth investments in more mature companies within traditional industry sectors. In 2014, Shackleton restructured three venture capital funds that were initially raised by Sigma Capital Group by forming a new Limited Partnership, Shackleton Secondaries 3 LP, with new terms and new funding and under Shackleton’s management. Sigma remains an investor in SS3.
