Standard Chartered Private Equity is the private equity arm of Standard Chartered Bank. It invests primarily in unlisted companies that are in mid to late stages, and require expansion capital, acquisition finance or financial expertise in management buyouts. It invests in a wide range of geographic sectors such as Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.The firm previously managed Merlion India Fund but no longer seeks to raise new private equity funds going forward. Instead, it continues to make proprietary investments from its own balance sheet.In 2018, Standard Chartered's private equity business completed a spin out from Standard Chartered, becoming an independent private equity firm, Affirma Capital. Standard Chartered is no longer active in private equity.
